i know i don’t know how
to adeptly begin
but its not about starting
it’s about closing the deal that counts.
you look so good in that sweater
but will my compliment suffice
to keep our interests together
or are you already on your way out?
i constantly ask all these questions
if only to myself
for lack of ears listening to understand
they say you’ll know when you’ve met your match
the glimmer in her eyes at night
the moments where you can’t detach.
and for so long i’ve un-believed
these self-evident truths
of others’ fortune;
passion:
-and above all: love.
with chagrin i boil
in the heat of a passion
storied and toiled
and not so easily explained
by my benign residence
this is my way of saying goodbye
before goodbye will suffice as a greeting
i can’t help but hinge on our next meeting
blind to your general emotion.
