Callbacks! July 24, 2007

Yes, that’s right kids, out of the 50 some odd folks that auditioned for aforementioned choral greatness, I was asked to return for a callback this week. When I received email response that I had been hoping for, I felt a distantly familiar surge of energy pulse through my veins.
Somehow when I sang countless rehearsals and performances throughout high school and college, things had a tendency to become rather mundane. Music was such a part of my everyday existence at that point I could hardly breath without coming in on a downbeat or the fifth of a random chord. I find it funny how when you’re removed from such things for a time how much you truly do miss them though. Good vowels. Tuning chords. Sight reading. Dissonance. Suspension. Resolution.
I’m a cheeseball about this, I know. God I miss it though.
… and before I knew it the callbacks were over. I learned two new songs and it felt like we had just begun. So how did I do you ask? We shall see by Friday, but I felt as though I gave it a good run of things and hopefully the blend of voices will be such that my voice fits well into the ensemble. Anyway, back to sitting on pins and needles til the weekend…
