I’ve given myself a good bit of time off from the ole blog during which I have lived so much life that it is impossible to catch the world up on absolutely everything. I’m going to summarize for myself the top 5 events that have happened since August 10.

1. Twenty Six – I had a birthday, and what a birthday it was. Las Vegas. Long lost friends. Red Bull. Vodka. 5 am. That pretty much sums it up…. can’t really complain.

2. Father Part 2 – Dad had his routine checkup on his progression with cancer, and it didn’t end up so favorable. The doctors found some re-occurance of colorectal cancer in his lungs and he recently had surgery to remove some of the spots. Unfortunately, this is evidence that his cancer is systemic and the chemotherapy regiments have been reinstated to try and fight it. Long story short, my father’s life will end early, the question is how early.

3. Brotherly Love – My brother has moved to Washington to pursue a career on capital hill for the coming months. He currently resides on my couch, eats all of my food, and has on occasion requested the use of my bedroom on a Friday night. All of these inconveniences aside, it is nice to have a partner in crime and someone to talk to, especially in light of our current family situation.

4. Music – Choir rehearsal, retreat, and singing in general has given me an all time high since moving to DC. In addition the ensemble being filled with ridiculously good looking people, we also make ridiculously good music. My brother and I have also begun work on a small recording project in my apartment, it will be coming to an internet near you sometime in the future.

Oh yeah, and I also recently saw The Police, Aerosmith, and Ani DiFranco. Bermazing.

5. Meeting Mrs. Right? – A random bar tour on a random evening in September has brought a new love interest into my life, as was likely evident from my previous post. Based on my past, I’ve taken a different tact this time which is yielding some very desirable, albeit deliberately paced, results. Hell, it’s inspired me to write and emote and feel again, that’s got to count for something, doesn’t it? In all honesty, things are going very well in this situation and I’m looking forward to the coming months.

your taste lingers
on my pursed lips
hungry for another
gentle abrasion

your words loiter
in my frontal lobe
yearning for your next
brilliant idiom.

your glances outlast
my solicitous gaze
speaking volumes
absent of dialogue.

your kiss outlives
our weekend affair
lungs breathless;
too alive to sleep.
