It has been an impossible task for me to actually sit down and write anything in my blog as of late. I could sit here and list the multiple reasons for this phenomenon, however, it will be more fun to tell the stories, in no particular order:

1. German Women – my skill at finding interesting and attractive foreign women has been at an all time high in the last 10 days. Of course, they’re not hard to identify, usually speaking their native tongue and discussing generally fun topics. Not that I’m targeting them or anything, but it is rather fun to use the language skills I have honed for the last 8-9 years.

My decision to study German versus Spanish throughout my education is one I often question given the seemingly endless number of uses for Spanish. Fortunately for me, German speaking women are attractive, and this supplants my need to habla espanol.

2. Water on my floor – Speaking of habla espanol, I’m not very happy with my leasing company right now. My washing machine proceeded to drain into my kitchen sink and onto the floor on Thursday night and I have had to pull some teek to get them to come and fix it. Apparently one of the neighbors has sabotaged the garbage disposal lines and the result is that my neighbor and I are seeing whatever leftovers they had for dinner come across onto our kitchen floors.

I’m currently spending my holiday playing hall monitor to make sure these guys actually do something. They have come over twice now and said that they couldn’t fix things until a later time. Meanwhile, my kitchen floor and carpeted closet continue to soak up the mess that has ensued.

3. We Are Family – upon said soking floor for the last several days, my mother, 2 aunts, and 2 cousins have spent their nights resting while on vacation. At the onset of the idea of them visiting I was excited to have company and do a bit of sightseeing myself, but as one might always expect, there has been a bit of temper and tension throughout their stay. My mother likes to take vacations to the next level by creating an aggresive schedule of events and it is not always easy to get younger children and out of shape adults on board with excessive walking and heat for 6 days.

4. Living The Dream – Speaking of turning up the heat, next year is looking like an exciting, aggresive, and opportunistic time with my work. I have talked through a lot of outstanding issues and situations with my current boss and I feel that I have positioned myself well for moving forward into next year. It will by no means be a cakewalk but I feel as though it will be enough to set me up for success in the coming year.

5. I’m not from the Midwest – Having returned home to Kansas for a couple of days here lately, I have decided that an internal transition has defintely begun within me. I maintain a lot of the charm, ideals, and concepts of my youth, but there has been a significant increase in the number of risks I’m willing to take and in my thinking on a variety of topics. It is a blessing and a curse that we never stop transitioning, changing, and molding ourselves into new people, and I have come to embrace that fact more than anything.

And so on.

A phrase I would not be entirely surprised to hear in Chocolate City.

However, when my 78 year old caucasian grandfather (who just happens to be a retired elementary school principal) blindsided us the dinner table Saturday night with this phrase, I nearly doubled over onto the patio.

Alas, I continue to play a game of “just the tip” with my blog. I have returned to the east coast from my hiatus in the midwest where I saw a Guiness World Record, dodged a hellacious tornado, and made my fair share of stupid decisions. I will eventually work up the time and the words to explain… sit tight.
